SOUGHT AND FOUND
I looked in village church and great cathedral,
Where countless worshippers had found their God.
I tried so hard to reach the risen Saviour,
To understand the majesty of His word.
I looked for Him in countryside and garden,
On mountains shrouded in the morning mist;
In gentle streams and rushing, tumbling waterfall,
In roaring sea, the waves by sunlight kissed.
I looked for Him in people, friends and strangers,
I saw a pale reflection of His love.
Its presence made my longing for Him greater,
I want His Spirit in my life to move.
I found Him living in my heart already.
In quietness I knew His gentle power.
No need for words, in calm obedience waiting.
He lives in all who let His Spirit flower.
He is in village church and great cathedral
And nature all His majesty displays.
His Spirit lives in people of all nations.
I know He lives in me, my God I praise!
