LIKE A REED
Like a reed blown by the wind,
Bending lower with each succeeding gust,
I bow beneath the storms of life,
The pain, the grief, the loneliness.
Like a reed, I stand tall and straight once more,
Grounded in my Saviour’s love,
Secure in my knowledge of Him,
Rejoicing in the richness of His blessings.
Make me pliant Lord,
Give me strong roots to help me bend and sway
To life’s inexorable rhythms.
Hold me with the nourishment of Your presence,
And in Your perfect time, carry me away
In the river of Your love, as it flows to the eternal sea.
